Surroundings

In life, everything we surround ourselves with either adds to our quality of life, or detracts from it.

The things that add to our quality of life are wonderful treasures, the things that make our hearts sing.

The things that detract from our quality of life are clutter.

It begs the question, why would we surround ourselves with something that detracts from our quality of life?

It is sometimes disguised in deceptive forms…

  • the shoes we splurged on but actually give us blisters
  • the empty boxes which may just come in useful one day, but in the meantime are blocking the hallway
  • the 3 pairs of stonewash jeans which haven’t fit for years
  • the unfinished knitting project for the baby born 6 years ago
  • the drawer full of dead batteries, one thousand rubber bands and mystery keys

It’s hard to be the best you can be when you are distracted and brought down by Clutter.

Clutter wastes time.  It costs money.  It uses valuable space.  It reminds us of sad times.  It lowers our self esteem.  It drains energy.  It even impacts on our relationships.

It’s hard to become the person we want to be with depleted time, energy, lack of space, bad memories, low self esteem, low energy and poor relationships.

Look around you.  Do you see things that detract from your life or things that add to it?

Open a door.  What do you see?  Do you see Clutter, or do you see wonderful treasures?

What will you surround yourself with, so that you can become the person you strive to be?

Ahh Angela I sooo love your writing!

Having cleaned up my desk yesterday, I know what I need to do first today after reading this.

That table of old crap is draining my energy and stopping me from moving on and getting this new stage of my business from becoming the fabulous memory-creator it’s meant to be!!

Thank you sooo much for the gentle kick I just got

And thank you for your delightful writing on Calm Space.

Heading off to my studio that is now a calm space (THANK YOU ANGELA!!!) and am looking forward to going to work to produce creative, colourful and interesting works, now that I’m not surrounded by clutter and distracting objects that I no longer need.
