Becoming You

If you stand still long enough You grow to be invisible Blotted from human consciousness Like a streetlight in daylight hours.
No one asks your opinion They know what you’re going to say They just work around you As if you aren’t there
You’re just you The same you you’ve always been Even if, on the inside, You know you’ve changed
Becoming someone new Isn’t just about changing your mindset It’s about taking up new spaces And learning how to move
Don’t just stand there Feel your blood bubbling inside It won’t let you stand still any more You’re claiming a new space
Feel your soul peeling back your skin And forcing its way out into the world It’s the birth of a person And you are a revelation

Hmmm Anne Better be careful! Methinks your brilliance is peeping out again!!
And I guess it would be impolite to ask how auto-biographical this is?????
Haha, Chris. You are never impolite.
i guess there is a degree of my story in there but equally it is the story of many. It can be quite terrifying to feel someone else pushing their way out of your skin but it’s so liberating at the same time. I hope everyone lets the new person free.
