The Western church has a tradition of  lighting a candle on each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. These are called Advent candles, order Clomid online overnight delivery no prescription, and they are meant to presage the coming of the ultimate light on Christmas Day.  Even more triumphantly perhaps, Clomid dose, the Jewish faith has the tradition of lighting a candle each night of the eight nights of Hanukkah: Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, the ultimate celebration of the triumph of light over darkness, Clomid interactions.   Both of these are a way of preparing to celebrate even before there is a reason to celebrate. Today I would like to suggest an idea.  What if you lit a candle too.

Maybe you, too, would like to create an Advent wreath -- lighting a candle each week in the belief that more light will come -- or purchase a menorah to do the same.  Maybe you would feel merrier simply lighting your Christmas tree.  Maybe just the thing for you is a candlelight service.  Or maybe the candle that you light will be one invisible to the eye, one found in the beauty that is your heart, Buy Clomid Without Prescription.

When you do any of these things, you say to yourself and to the Universe that you believe and you expect.  And it is not really about anything to do with Christmas or Hanukkah or any other holiday.  It's about believing in you and the assurance that the light you so achingly long for will come into your life again.

The friends, the family, the job, the security, the love, the peace (or whatever it is) that you want and so desperately need to come in -- they will come, I assure you. They always do.

And when they do, you will have reason to celebrate ... and will celebrate!  The light will be all around you.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays to everyone,

I was really moved by your post. I have been in darkness for such a long time now. Over two years. I hope that I can finally find the light this year. My home is filled with candles. Perhaps Christmas Day will the time to light them all….

Thank you for your beautiful writing…

  2. Great post, Carla! It’s great to see you here on The Calm Space. Happy celebrating!

  3. Ruthie says:

Beautiful post, lovely Carla! This circle of life just keeps circling- moving through the seasons. Spring, summer, fall, winter. Birth, life, death. Joy, sorrow, joy. You captured what is certain. Darkness will come….and the light will return. By holding faith in that light, we carry some of it inside to help us until it returns in full!!

This is really beautiful. I love all the “light” traditions of the holidays, and especially this time of year…yule logs, tree lights, candles…all of it. On most years, I hold a “light vigil” on the night of the Winter Solstice where I leave all the lights on in the house all night long, to encourage the dawn which signifies the return of the light. This is an ancient tradition, once practiced by my Germanic ancestors, and it brings me comfort.

  5. @Dorothy: I’m so glad you found this piece today and that it spoke to you. Light those candles, woman! They represent your hope and they are beautiful, as is hope. Big hug today ((you)).

@Positively Present: Happy celebrating to you too, Dani. I’ve missed you and the blogging crew and sincerely hope you are well and good. :)

@Ruthie: I love it — we carry some of [that light] inside to help us until it returns in full! Yes and yes! So grateful for you and your sweet spirit, Ruthie, and for the way we can connect in this crazy world of cyberspace.

  6. What you have discribed here is something that my nephew once explained to me (yes, I have a nephew who’s nearly my age!) and I have never forgotten his words. He likened life to a huge turning wheel. At times, the wheel may be down, but hold onto the fact that wheels are always turning. As the wheel continues to move, you will return to the “up” position, bringing happiness and prosperity back into your life.

Your story of candles and light are far more appropriate for this Christmas season, but so similar to the story of the wheel. :)

Thank you for you amazing words of wisdom this year. I wish you a beautiful, warm, light-filled Christmas, lovely Carla. xxx

  7. @Jay: Oh, Jay, I LOVE this! And I love your idea of keeping a light vigil! This touches me in my heart, and in the place that helps me feel connected not only to my present world but to all of those who have come before me. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to bring back MORE of these ancient, timeless rituals? I’m so glad you shared this. :)

@Joanne: Dearest Joanne, thank you so much for the warm holiday wishes. I wish the same for you and your family. Thank you for sharing the words of your nephew, as well. I think the circular view of life and history is often far more comforting to me than the linear one. Knowing that the wheel keeps turning can give us hope when we’re at its bottom … and keep us humble when we’re at its peak. Thank you for your words – Merry Christmas!

  12. Aileen says:

Carla, this is such a compassionate and uplifting post. The holidays can be very dark for many, many people and sometimes it’s near impossible to find the light of hope and reprieve. Your words offer illumination.

  13. @Aileen: Thank you, Aileen! That was my hope for this post. :)
