All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good and out of this situation only good will come. I am safe.

~Affirmation, Louise L. Hay.

What happens to your mind when you die?” When I asked my mother this question I would have been perhaps five or six years of age. It was a question I had wondered about, often.

As I recall, my mother had difficulty answering me. But to me, it was a very good question. All people have two arms and legs, two feet, two hands, a body, a head, two ears, and a face which has two eyes, a nose and a mouth.

That was where the similarities ended. There was something that made each of us different to the next person. And, you couldn’t see it! I figured that it was locked away, somewhere inside of each person’s head.
I knew exactly what it was. It was that “thing” that gave people differing ideas. It explained why two people would meet and become instant friends, when others would be right in front of them and seem invisible.
It was why some liked sports and some were more academic. Why some talked a lot and others were quieter. Some were always happy and approachable while others were bitter and angry.

But it went deeper than that. I knew that we were all born in the same way. We all started with parents, a family and a clean personal slate. So why did some kids eventually seem to have everything going on in their lives, while others were less fortunate and struggling?

As the years progressed I began to realise that our minds are powerful. A person’s mind can make or break them. Every action that we take has had its beginning as a thought. And we can control our thoughts. We can choose our actions. We choose to live either lives of happiness or sadness.

What an amazing gift each of us has been given! Each and every one of us has the power to control our own lives! Isn’t that an exciting thought?

It has now been proven scientifically that our thoughts, our minds, are an energy source. We actually emit waves of energy from our minds! (It was such a comfort to me when I heard of this fact…its ammunition, if needed, to fend off the disbelievers!)

Louise L. Hay, a wonder herself, believes that affirmations are a necessary part of our daily lives. The outcome of our existence is based on what it is that we tell ourselves, all day, every day. Be mindful of what that little voice inside your head is telling you!

I believe that I will always wonder at the power of our thoughts, those little, invisible, powerful words that we speak to ourselves, which can bring to us anything we want in the world. All we need to do is ask…

I, too, am amazed by the wonder that is thought and how much those little words we speak and say to ourselves internally somehow express themselves externally in our lives. This Universe is a wonder and a marvel, and not any more so than is the wonder and marvel of the universe we carry within us in our bodies.

This was a lovely post, Joanne. Thank you. :)

  2. Hello Carla. :)

Have you noticed the “circle” of events here? As you said, the things we say to ourselves internally, express themselves externally in our lives…just as when we show gratitude for the external occurrences, such as showing our appreciation for the wondrous people, sights, events, etc, that enter our lives, that in turn manifests in our internal joy and happiness!

Indeed, what a wondrous world we have! :)

Thoughts are so amazing, aren’t they? I’ve been giving myself what I call attitude adjustments every morning, a way to start my day on a positive note. Sometimes I have to tweak those adjustments a little throughout the day. It has made a world of difference in my health on all levels (emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically).

    Wonderful post. Thank you. :)

  4. Being aware of the need to make those tweaks to your thoughts throughout the day is a major step also, Robin. I’m so pleased to hear you are doing that. It takes effort, I know! And it really does make a difference, as you know. :)
