Spiritual Possibility

In order to discuss spiritual possibilities it is first necessary to discuss ‘faith’. To me, spiritual faith in your Higher Power requires no proof. Most people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”.
If you have true faith in Source you will say, “I’ll see it when I believe it”.
This level of faith takes an extraordinary person of exceptional faith and an exceptional and intimate ‘knowing’ of God. Very few have ever existed. According to the Book of Job, God allowed Satan to test Job with great suffering – loss of wealth, family and health. Everyone told Job to curse God for his misfortunes or to confess the sins for which he was obviously being punished. Job however, maintained his faith in God’s will throughout his suffering. For this he was eventually rewarded with health, wealth and more children. Only God knows the full story about everything – we only know the tip of the iceberg.
Many of us have prayed for one thing or another repetitively and with great fervour only to be disappointed when this ‘faith’ in God does not net the desired results. It is tempting to blame everything other than our own doubts, fears or ulterior motives.
In addition, since the Universe is always on track (faith), God will provide exactly what is needed even if it is the opposite of what is requested in our prayers. As Garth Brooks sings, “Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers”.
Even though most of us fall short of the kind of faith necessary to ‘move mountains’, we nevertheless exist in a field of infinite possibilities. Many people have cured themselves of supposedly ‘incurable’ diseases whereas some, allowing even the vaguest doubt or fear into their soul, may not be so ‘lucky’. Many strange and wonderful things have happened in the history of humankind for which there is no logical explanation.
Good parents tell their children that ‘anything is possible’. In the most spiritual sense, these are not just words of encouragement, but rather God’s Law. My grandmother used to say, “There is no such word as can’t”. And she was right! We must learn to get out of our own way. We are often our own worst enemies. Our hearts and minds need to remain open to all possibilities otherwise we will miss out on all the ‘riches’ that faith brings.
In light of this New Year of 2010, let’s open ourselves up to the possibility that there are infinite possibilities and see what miracles we can bring about!
Love, peace and wisdom

Beautiful Annie; I’m a big fan of “anything is possible” and when I remain open to the ‘idea’ amazing things do happen!
Dee
Yes, I also loved this article! The “we must learn to get out of our own way” is a message I can’t hear enough. Thank you for offering such important thoughts on faith!
Thank you so much for the feedback Dee and Stacey. We forget so easily don’t we? But…. thankfully we are also reminded so easily
Oh Annie, you always give me pause for thought, and encouragement to move on. I love the Spiritual Space!
Dear Chris – bless you for such kind words.
