A Recipe for Stress Relief

crocus One of the wonderful things about essential oils is their ability to affect our mood. And as the holiday season gets into full swing (along with end of school year functions!) we could all use a lift. What better way to feel calmer, less stressed and more able to cope than by filling your room with beautiful scent that also works on your body to elevate your mood?

If you don’t have an oil burner or diffuser, you can rub a drop or two onto a cold lightbulb before you turn it on, or add a few drops of the blend to a spray bottle of water and mist it about the room.

Káren’s favourite Stress Relief blend:

12 drops Grapefruit

4 drops Jasmine

4 drops Ylang Ylang

Blend the essential oils in a dark glass bottle, and roll the bottle between your hands to mix well.

Use this mix in an oil burner (I use about 8 drops) or diffuser to help relieve stress and make you feel more optimistic.

That sounds like a rich and exotic combination. The grapefruit would add a lovely crisp and fresh note to balance the lush florals. I will certainly try this. Thank you for the recipe.

I should add, too, that it is nice to get away from poor, overworked lavender oil.

  3. Thank you Anne! I’m a real lover of anything citrus – especially in the warmer months here in Queensland, and grapefruit does work a treat! If you’re plopping them straight in the diffuser or burner without mixing first – then 4:1:1 drops works well.

And yes, whilst Lavender is a real first aid kit in a bottle, I agree it’s nice to have something different!
